📅 7-Day Recovery Outlook

You need mild temps and some rain for the grass to heal.

🌱

The >12°C Rule

Scarifying is "surgery" for your lawn. The grass needs to be actively growing (soil temps above 12°C/54°F) to heal the wounds, otherwise moss will just return.

💧

Goldilocks Soil

If soil is too dry, machinery damages the roots. If too wet, you'll tear healthy grass out. Aim for moist, firm ground.

Renovation Checklist

  • Kill Moss First: Apply iron sulphate 2 weeks before scarifying to blacken/kill the moss.
  • Mow Low: Gradually lower your cut height before the day of renovation.
  • Scarify: Go lightly first, then deeper. Remove the debris.
  • Overseed: Always put down new seed after scarifying to thicken the lawn.
  • Top Dress: (Optional) Cover seeds with a thin layer of compost/soil.
